Why are you seeing this message?
When working with AI, as is sometimes the case in Textmetrics, you may see a message:
“AI-generated content may be inaccurate.”
This warning is not meant to discourage you, but rather to help you work with AI in a conscious, careful and responsible way.
What do we mean by “inaccurate content”?
AI generates text based on large amounts of training data. That brings speed and creativity, but also has limitations. The content may be inaccurate in the following ways:
1. Errors in facts or data
AI may present outdated or incorrect facts, such as:
- “Nederland has 17.5 million inhabitants” (this number may be outdated)
- “The GDPR only applies within the Netherlands” (incorrect, it is EU legislation)
2. Invented or non-existent sources
AI can generate sentences that sound reliable but are based on assumptions or fabricated information:
- “According to a study by the University of Rotterdam…” while that study does not exist.
- “Research shows that…” without citing any actual source.
3. Context errors or misinterpretations
AI does not understand intent, emotion or situation. As a result, sentences may come across the wrong way:
- “This role is perfect for young starters” → This could unintentionally be discriminatory.
- “You don’t need to worry” → May come across as patronizing or distant.
4. Lack of up-to-date knowledge
AI models have limited knowledge of recent events, such as: Consider the following issues:
- legal changes,
- new organizational structures,
- shifting social norms.
What can you do?
- Stay critical. AI is a tool, not the final decision-maker.
- Verify facts and sources, especially in legal, policy or scientific texts.
- Use the Textmetrics checks. Our platform automatically helps detect errors, bias and unclear wording.
- Involve a colleague. Always have important communication reviewed by someone else.
What does Textmetrics do to help you?
At Textmetrics, we help you check whether your AI-generated text is:
- aligned with your own writing guidelines,
- clear and inclusive,
- in line with your AI policy and language standards.
Our technology combines AI with governance and compliance. That way, you stay in control of quality, risks and reputation.
